Thought of the day!

The Texas Board of Education is currently debating what can and can't be printed in school history books. This is very important because, most text book publishers print the books that Texas wants published. So, we had democrats and republicans fighting over what should be taught. Dems wanted the founders (Thomas Jefferson) and others removed, Repubs wanted the seperation of church and state removed. They all disagreed, but, at whose detriment? Our children!! This country, warts and all, is still the beacon of freedom, but our kids need to know what those warts are, and that we learned from them. The last time I checked that's called education! I want my child to be taught everything, he does not need to be protected or indoctrinated by anyone. I, as a parent, will guide him. That's my job! Yet, 15 or 20 people, with political agendas, are the ones making decisions on my childs education! Is it any wonder our education system is no longer the best in world?

First time since 1880!

As a devout Oriole fan I am already frustrated with the baseball season. As a true baseball fan this is already a historic year. There has already been 3 no-hitters pitched in the first month and a half of the season. Last night Roy Halliday pitched the 2nd perfect game of the year. That's the first time 2 perfect games have been thrown in the same season since 1880! There have only been 20 perfect games ever pitched, and 2 of them have been tossed since April! It's shaping up to be a great baseball season...unless you're an Oriole fan:(

Obama got this right...

But for the wrong reason!

Obama from 2001: "the Constitution is a document of negative liberties, says what the states can't do to you, says what the federal government can't do to you, but it doesn't say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf"

Yes Mr. President, it is a document of negitive liberties for the exact reasons you state. It limits what the Government can do because the founders knew that the more government intervened in the human condition the more liberties it would be able to take from it's citizens. The framers knew that when the government started acting on the citizens behalf, it would eventually be acting on the governments behalf. They understood the adage "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely". One would think that a "Constitutional Scholar" (which our Commander-in-Chief claims to be) would understand that!

The Constitution was written in a way to protect us from ourselves. Human nature dictates that when one is given authority they believe they know what's best for those they have authority over. This authority, given to the wrong person, would lead to toltarianism. Our founding documents were written to discourage that.

We have inalienable rights, granted to us by our creator. The negative liberties Obama is complaining about are the ones that restrict what the government can do. Why? This should worry us all!

Rememberance....

To all that will be grillin', drinkin' and celebrating. Please take time to remember those that gave the ultimate so that we can enjoy this weekend, as well as those that can't be with their families. Freedom is never given, it's earned. This weekend we honor those that earned it for us!! God Bless our Troops!! Happy Memorial Day!

Welcome...

This is my first blog post of, hopefully, a long list of rants and perspective. Being a very opinionated person I thought "what the hell", I can express myself in more than 420 characters...LOL! I am a political junkie and most posts will center around that. As a Libertarian I normally don't advocate for one side or the other. I just give my perspective as an American citizen, like everyone else. If you visit you'll see I don't think like alot of people. My own son tells me that I'm as screwed up as a football bat. If you hang around that will become apparant. If I make you mad, don't leave, tell me why! I love debate as long as it stays civil. I won't call names and hope anyone commenting won't either. I will also post about other various things...whatever strikes me that day! So, I hope you enjoy a little journey into the mind of a screwed up man...:) I know I'll learn along the way.
